Watching a beautiful sunset can be so soothing to the soul. We see the sun fall away in a blaze of colours until the evening creeps in and darkness descends. The moon rises and all is well.

Have you ever considered what it would be like the next day if the sun did not rise again? Probably not. Why? Because it always does.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.  And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
Genesis 1:1-5

Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises.
Ecclesiastes 1:4,5

And, so who contemplates the ‘why?’

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
Deuteronomy 7:9

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22,23

Great is God’s faithfulness!

This is why I believe that in the peace of the day, as you watch the sun rise or set, we are at peace and our soul knows well the message that our Maker speaks to our heart. His sweet voice calls you ever so gently. He calls you by name… an intimate gesture of His love… His great love.

You see it… but do You hear Him? He who created it, just for you?

Take the time to watch the next sunset, or sunrise…and listen to what God will whisper in your ear.
