How often do we as Christians strain and strive in our own strength to be witnesses. I know I sometimes have. And usually when I do, I make a mess of it.

There is a better way.

When Jesus spoke to the apostles, He made it clear for them to understand His command that they were to be witnesses and that as such they would impact their local town (Jerusalem), their whole (all) state/nation (Judea) and the ethnic minorities that their countrymen detested (Samaria) and other nations and continents (to the ends of the earth).

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8

What a command… but what a promise! “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you“. They didn’t have to do this themselves. It wasn’t to be done in their own strength… but with the power of the Holy Spirit.

We can rely on the power of the Holy Spirit. Wow! …and whew!

Maybe, just maybe, we need to listen to the Holy Spirit and be obedient to that which he asks us to do. Should we consider this each day? Well yes… who wouldn’t want the Holy Spirits Power, daily?!

Prayer: Lord, please forgive me for the times in which I strive and strain in my own strength. I desire to be a good witness for you each day. Help me to look to your wisdom each day. Let’s start right now… you humble servant is listening. In Jesus’ name I ask it. Amen.
