May Your Name Be Found
During the 10 Days of Awe there is another concept of our names being written in “books,” more specifically in the “Book of Life.”
The expression is “May your name be found in the Book of Life.”
And the response is “May your name also be found.”
The time when this expression begins is Yom Teruah (Month 7, Day 1), with the understanding that the root of the word teruah is “alert” or “alarm” or “to raise awareness.” This feast day is also the only one that requires two witnesses to announce the sighting of the crescent moon in order to begin the feast. The Feast of Trumpets is the only Feast Day that begins on the first day of the month; just like the other new crescent moons, it requires two witnesses. It is the Feast that comes at a day and hour no man knows. So, you must be alert, watching and ready.
The Bible indicates that blowing a shofar is almost always a summons, a war cry, an alert warning to prepare for something, to hail an arrival, or a wake-up call if one has been spiritually or physically slumbering.
It acknowledges and confirms that Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets, is the start of judgment on all mankind – a fitting time to blow the shofars as it warned of the coming danger. Judgment, and not being found in the Book of Life, is the danger you are to warn about for those who do not obey.
I hope to hear everyone around the world on the 1st day of Aviv (Month 1, Day 1), blowing the shofar loud and then again on Yom Teruah (Month 7, Day 1) later that same year. Get ready to join me and warn all of mankind on these days.
Yes, all mankind! The Feast of Trumpets and each of the Holy Days are not just for the Jews.
Isaiah 24:1-6 MKJV
Behold, Jehovah empties the land and makes it bare, and distorts its face, and scatters its inhabitants.
(2) And as it is with the people, so it shall be with the priest; as with the servant, so with the master; as with the handmaid, so it is with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.
(3) The land shall be completely emptied, and utterly stripped; for Jehovah has spoken this Word.
(4) The earth mourns and languishes; the world droops and languishes; the proud people of the earth droop.
(5) And the land is defiled under its people; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, and have broken the everlasting covenant.
(6) Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and they who dwell in it are deserted; therefore the people of the earth are burned, and few men left.
The whole earth is being stripped. Although Isaiah uses a different word, bâzaz (plundered) from he is still saying the same thing as the word Choreph (harvest). The earth is going to be stripped and laid waste.
It is the whole earth that is being judged and found guilty of not keeping the covenant. It has to be the whole earth, all of mankind who must repent and return to the Torah, or their names will not be found in the Book of Life.
The first place I have found where the Book of Life is mentioned or spoken of is in Exodus.
Exodus 32:30-33 MKJV
And it happened on the next day, Moses said to the people, You have sinned a great sin. And now I will go up to Jehovah. Perhaps I shall make an atonement for your sin.
(31) And Moses returned to Jehovah, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold.
(32) And now will You forgive their sin! And if not, I pray You, blot me out of Your book which You have written.
(33) And Jehovah said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.
Isaiah also speaks of those who would be recorded in the Book of Life as being holy.
Isaiah 4:2-4 MKJV
In that day shall the Branch of Jehovah be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth excellent and comely for those who have escaped from Israel.
(3) And it shall be, he who is left in Zion, and he who remains in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even everyone who is written among the living in Jerusalem;
(4) when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from its midst by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.
This Book of Life is also spoken of in the Psalms.
Psalms 56:8 MKJV
You number my wandering; O put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your Book?
Psalms 69:28 MKJV
Let them be blotted out of the Book of Life, and not be written with the righteous.
Let me say here the righteous are not those who claim to be followers of Jesus and are waiting for His return to be raptured out. They are not those who go to Sunday church every week.
The righteous ones, whose names will be found in the Book of Life, are those who keep and DO the commandments, who keep the weekly Sabbath, the Holy Days of Leviticus 23, and the Sabbatical and Jubilee Years of Leviticus 25.
Psalms 119:172 MKJV
My tongue shall speak Your Word, for all Your Commandments are righteousness.
John 14:15 MKJV
If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 14:21 MKJV
He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.
John 14:23 MKJV
Jesus answered and said to him, If a man loves Me, he will keep My Word. And My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.
John 15:10 MKJV
If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
1 John 2:3 MKJV
And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments.
1 John 5:3 MKJV
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.
2 John 1:6 MKJV
And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
This is what the 10 Days of Awe are all about: the repenting from not obeying Yehovah to now obeying Him and keeping the commandments of which the 4th one includes the Sabbath and Holy Days.
Daniel 12:1-3 MKJV
And at that time Michael shall stand up, the great ruler who stands for the sons of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation; until that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
(2) And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
(3) And those who are wise shall shine as the brightness of the sky; and those who turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever and ever.
Those who will not obey and refuse to repent will not be found in the Book of Life.
Hebrews 10:26-27 MKJV
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,
(27) but a certain fearful looking for judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
The Feast of Trumpets is the day the Messiah is going to come back on and begin to judge the earth.
If you understand this, then when you read about the five foolish virgins, you will understand that they are going out to “BUY” on this same Holy Day that the Messiah comes. The five foolish demonstrate by their very actions they do not know the Bridegroom. If they did, they would not be buying on the Feast of Trumpets, which is a Holy Day when you are not to buy or sell.
Matthew 25:1-13 MKJV
Then shall the kingdom of Heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
(2) And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
(3) The foolish ones took their lamps, but took no oil with them.
(4) But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
(5) While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
(6) And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes! Go out to meet him.
(7) Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
(8) And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps have gone out.
(9) But the wise answered, saying, No, lest there be not enough for us and you. But rather go to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.
(10) And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came. And they who were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.
(11) Afterwards the other virgins came also, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
(12) But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.
(13) Therefore watch, for you do not know either the day or the hour in which the Son of Man comes.
When Daniel speaks of the Book of Life at the end of this age, are you going to be found as one of the wise ones turning many others to righteousness? Righteousness, as we have just read, is the keeping of the commandments.
(3) And those who are wise shall shineH2094 as the brightness of the sky; and those who turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever and ever.
Look at this word for shine.
H2094 (Ancient Hebrew) AHLB# 1158-G (V)
Rz% (זד ZR) ac: Spread co: ? ab: ?: The pictograph z represents the harvest. The r is the picture of the head of a man. Combined these mean “harvest of heads”. After the grain has been harvested and the heads of grain have been broken open, the heads are thrown into the wind where the chaff is blown away and the seed falls to the ground where they can be gathered.
G) Rez% (זהד ZHR) ac: Warn co: ? ab: ?
V) Rez% (זהד Z-HR) – Warn: [Unknown connection to root; Hebrew and Aramaic] [freq. 23] (vf: Niphal, Hiphil) |kjv: warn, admonish, teach, shine, heed| {str: 2094, 2095}
(Brown-Driver-Briggs) זהר zâhar BDB Definition: to admonish, warn, teach, shine, send out light, be light, be shining 1a) (Niphal) to be taught, be admonished 1b) (Hiphil) 1b1) to teach, warn 1b2) to shine, send out light (figuratively)
(Strong’s) זָהַר zâhar zaw-har’ A primitive root; to gleam; figuratively to enlighten (by caution): – admonish, shine, teach, (give) warn (-ing).
Are you going to be found as one of the wise virgins?
Will you shine like the stars?
Are you turning many to righteousness now?
Are you teaching Torah, or warning others, admonishing them to return to Yehovah’s Torah?
Are you helping those who are?
Will you be found guilty of doing this work?
Psalms 111:10 MKJV
The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; all practicing them have good understanding; His praise stands forever.
According to Paul, those who work and those who help others to do this work of turning many to righteousness by sharing the truth will be found in the Book of Life.
Philippians 4:2-3 MKJV
I beg Euodia and Syntyche that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
(3) And I also beg you, true yoke-fellow, help those women who labored in the gospel with me and with Clement, and others of my fellow-laborers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
The Book of Life
The Book of Life is referenced seven times in the Book of Revelation. Let us read them and consider what is being revealed to us.
Revelation 3:1-6 MKJV
And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars says these things. I know your works, that you have a name that you live, and are dead.
(2) Be watchful and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die. For I have not found your works being fulfilled before God.
(3) Remember then how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.
(4) You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments. And they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.
(5) The one who overcomes, this one will be clothed in white clothing. And I will not blot out his name out of the Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
(6) He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Revelation 13:5-10 MKJV
And a mouth speaking great things was given to it, and blasphemies. And authority was given to it to continue forty-two months.
(6) And it opened its mouth in blasphemy toward God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, and those dwelling in Heaven.
(7) And it was given to it to war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given to it over every tribe and tongue and nation.
(8) And all dwelling on the earth will worship it, those whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain, from the foundation of the world.
(9) If anyone has an ear, let him hear.
(10) He who leads into captivity will go into captivity. If anyone will kill with the sword, he must be killed by a sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Revelation 17:7-8 MKJV
And the angel said to me, Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, that has the seven heads and ten horns.
(8) The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to ascend out of the abyss and go into perdition. And those dwelling on the earth will marvel, those whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Revelation 20:11-15 MKJV
And I saw a great white throne, and Him sitting on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And a place was not found for them.
(12) And I saw the dead, the small and the great, stand before God. And books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
(13) And the sea gave up the dead in it. And death and hell delivered up the dead in them. And each one of them was judged according to their works.
(14) And death and hell were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death.
(15) And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire.
Revelation 21:22-27 MKJV
And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, even the Lamb.
(23) And the city had no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they might shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
(24) And the nations of those who are saved will walk in the light of it; and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
(25) And its gates may not be shut at all by day, for there shall be no night there.
(26) And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
(27) And there shall in no way enter into it anything that defiles, or any making an abomination or a lie; but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Revelation 22:19 MKJV
And if anyone takes away from the Words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which have been written in this Book.
Reread this last verse very slowly.
Anyone taking away the Words of this Book of prophecy will have their name removed from the Book of Life.
To those who still will not keep the commandments, saying they are done away: You have removed the Words of this Book and are in danger of having your name blotted out. I say this with the knowledge of the scriptures that are found in the Book of Revelation.
At the end of this age, the dragon is going to make war with those who KEEP the commandments. That time is directly in front of us.
Revelation 12:17 MKJV
And the dragon was enraged over the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Anyone who says he or she believes in Jesus, claims to have faith in Jesus, this is awesome, but that also means that they must keep the commandments.
Revelation 14:12 MKJV
Here is the patience of the saints. Here are the ones who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Abraham also believed in Yehovah and obeyed.
Genesis 15:6 MKJV
And he believedH539 in Jehovah. And He counted it to him for righteousness.
H539 אמן ‘âman BDB Definition: 1) to support, confirm, be faithful
This belief, or faith, translated into Abraham obeying Yehovah’s voice. Yehovah didn’t know Abraham’s faith until he obeyed His voice and offered his son.
Genesis 22:12 MKJV
And He said, Do not lay your hand on the lad, nor do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only one, from Me.
Abraham’s belief in Yehovah was the same as his faith in Yehovah.
If you say you believe and that you have faith, then it means you must obey, which means you keep the commandments, statutes and laws of Yehovah.
Genesis 26:5 MKJV
because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My Laws.
With just these two verses alone from the Book of Revelation mentioned above, it is very clear that one of the signs of God’s people is that they are COMMANDMENT KEEPERS.
This does not sound like the commandments of God being nailed to the cross, as many churches tell their congregants.
Those who keep harping that the commandments are part of the Old Testament and that we are a New Testament Church should consider these verses just in the Book of Revelation. Most assuredly, the Book of Revelation is found in the NEW Testament.
Let me drill down on this some more. Those who keep the commandments are those who do His commandments. These are those who obey Him and then are given the Holy Spirit.
Acts 5:32 MKJV
And we are His witnesses of these things. And so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.
The truth is plain, simple, and VERY OBVIOUS:
If you want to be found in the Book of Life, you need to keep the commandments.
With all of this in mind, now read the very last verses in the entire Bible and again notice who will have authority over the Tree of Life. It will be those who do His commandments.
Revelation 22:12-21 MKJV
And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each according as his work is.
(13) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, the First and the Last.
(14) Blessed are they who do His commandments, that their authority will be over the Tree of Life, and they may enter in by the gates into the city.
(15) But outside are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and makes a lie.
(16) I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify these things to you over the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright and Morning Star.
(17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let the one hearing say, Come! And let the one who is thirsty come. And he willing, let him take of the Water of Life freely.
(18) For I testify together to everyone who hears the Words of the prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add on him the plagues that have been written in this Book.
(19) And if anyone takes away from the Words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which have been written in this Book.
(20) He who testifies these things says, Yes, I am coming quickly, Amen. Yes, come, Lord Jesus.
(21) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you. Amen.
The expression “May your name be found in the Book of Life” is said during the 10 Days of Awe.
It is a reminder that you must repent (Hebrew: “teshuva”) of your sins, from breaking the commandments.
You are not only to repent but also to pray for forgiveness (Hebrew: “tefilah”).
You are also expected to make recompense for anything you have done or harm you have caused. This is done in the way of good deeds (Hebrew: “tzedakah”).
However, you only have 10 days to make the necessary changes, or you may not be inscribed in the books and sealed for the year.
The trials and tribulations discussed here last ten years, not ten days. The 10 Days of Awe are 10 Years of Awe—of repentance, prayer, and charitable works and I believe they are from 2024 to 2033.
At the end of these 10 Years of Awe, which I believe include the final 3 ½ years of the Great Tribulation, may YOU be sealed, and may YOUR name be found in the Book of Life.
Let’s now let’s return to: A Menu of Important Things.
