Disaster! Floods in Queensland covering an area the size of New South Wales, or for my American friends, the size of Texas.
Devastation at every turn. Houses inundated with muddy water and debris. Ruin. Heart breaking.
And yet in the midst of the heartache flows the coping mechanism, humour. Good old aussie humour.
Even in laughter the heart may ache, and rejoicing may end in grief.
Take the Fitzroy Hotel. The ground floor is flooded and yet they hang out a sign,
* cold beer
* great river views
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
While our resilient Queensland friends battle on with humour abounding, let us find a way to lift their spirits so they are not crushed… I’m sure we could find a few spare dollars and cheerfully give!
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
