The year 5785 According to Judah on September 18, 2024
The year on the Jewish calendar at the Feast of Trumpets in September 18, 2024 it become the year 5785 since the creation. Many people look at this and think that we have 215 years until the 6000 year and then go back to sleep. But is this correct?
The Real Year is 5860 according to the Sabbatical Calendar
However, the year is in actuality 5860 and that it changes on Aviv 1 each year according to Exodus 12:2
Exo 12:2 MKJV
This month shall be to you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year to you.
At Aviv in 2025 it will be the year 5861. So, we are always going to be about 76 years apart in our dating. Why?
This is very misleading to the average person.
The 76 Missing Years
The Jewish calendar fails to mention that they have removed 76 years from their calendar. This was done in Mathew 1:8 where the names of Ahaziah, who reigned 1 year, and Athaliah who reigned 6, and Joash who reigned 40 and Amaziah who reigned 29, are all missing from the chronology. 76 years in total.
Mat 1:7-8 MKJV
(7) And Solomon fathered Rehoboam, and Rehoboam fathered Abijah, and Abijah fathered Asa.
(8) And Asa fathered Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat fathered Jehoram, and Jehoram fathered Uzziah.
(9) And Uzziah fathered Jotham, and Jotham fathered Ahaz, and Ahaz fathered Hezekiah.
Compare the biblical list with the actual Kings of Judah List below and take note of which ones are missing and which ones are included and then ask why.

What was it that these kings did to anger Yehovah so?
We can read in Duet. 29:20 where Yehovah threatened to blot out the names of those who served other gods. And in Exodus 20:5 it says that the sins of the people will be visited to the 3rd and 4th generations of those who hate Him.
Deuteronomy 29:16-20 MKJV
(For you know how we have lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the nations which you passed. (17) And you have seen their abominations and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them) (18) lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away today from Jehovah our God, to go serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood, (19) and it happens when he hears the words of this curse, that he shall bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to snatch away the drunken with the thirsty. (20) Jehovah will not be willing to forgive him, but then the anger of Jehovah and His jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie on him, and Jehovah shall blot out his name from under heavens.Exodus 20:4-6 MKJV
You shall not make to yourselves any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. (5) You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I Jehovah your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those that hate me, (6) and showing mercy to thousands of those that love Me and keep My commandments.
What wicked King could this be? From the list above we can see that something must have happened to Ahaziah; so, lets begin with him.
When we look at this we can also see how the House of Yehovah fell in to ruin and that Joash was going to restore the house and repair it.
2 Chronicles 24:1-16 MKJV
Joash was seven years old when he began to reign. And he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.
(2) And Joash did the right in the eyes of Jehovah all the days of Jehoiada the priest.
(3) And Jehoiada took two wives for him, and he fathered sons and daughters.
(4) And it happened after this, it had been in the mind of Joash to repair the house of Jehovah.
(5) And he gathered together the priests and the Levites and said to them, Go out to the cities of Judah, and gather silver from all Israel to repair the house of your God from year to year. And see that you hasten the matter. And the Levites did not hasten it.
(6) And the king called for Jehoiada and said to him, Why have you not made the Levites bring in the collection out of Judah and out of Jerusalem, according to Moses the servant of Jehovah, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?
(7) For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, have broken up the house of God. And also all the dedicated things of the house of Jehovah they have given to Baals.
(8) And the king commanded, and they made a chest, and set it outside at the gate of the house of Jehovah.
(9) And they gave a call in Judah and in Jerusalem, to bring in to Jehovah the collection that Moses the servant of God laid on Israel in the wilderness.
(10) And all the rulers and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and threw into the chest until it was finished.
(11) And it happened at the time the chest was brought into the king’s office by the Levites, and when they saw that the silver was abundant, the king’s scribe and the high priest’s officer came and emptied the chest, and took it and carried it to its place again. So they did day by day, and gathered a great amount of silver.
(12) And the king and Jehoiada gave it to those who did the work of the service of the house of Jehovah. And they hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of Jehovah, and also artisans in iron and bronze, to mend the house of Jehovah.
(13) And the workmen worked, and the work was completed by them, and they set the house of God in its proper state and made it strong.
(14) And when they had finished, they brought the rest of the silver before the king and Jehoiada. Of this silver were made vessels for the house of Jehovah, vessels to minister and to offer, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they continually offered burnt offerings in the house of Jehovah all the days of Jehoiada.
(15) But Jehoiada became old, and was full of days when he died. He was a hundred and thirty years old when he died.
(16) And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God and toward His house.
Take note of what was said in verse 7.
2 Chronicles 24:7 MKJV
For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, have broken up the house of God. And also all the dedicated things of the house of Jehovah they have given to Baals.
This was why the people Libnah revolted.
Before we find out who this Athaliah was we have just read how Joash was the one who was a good King and served Yehovah. Now lets turn to 2 Kings 8 and find out what preceded these evil kings, and it turns out that Jehoram was an evil King who produced a lineage of evil kings.
Jehoram Reigns in Judah:
2 Kings 8:16-24 MKJV
And in the fifth year of Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
(17) And he was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
(18) And he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab did; for the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah.
(19) Yet Jehovah would not destroy Judah for David His servant’s sake, as He promised him to give him a light to his sons forever.
(20) In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
(21) And Jehoram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him. And he rose by night and struck the Edomites who were all around him, and the commanders of the chariots. And the people fled into their tents.
(22) Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.
(23) And the rest of the acts of Jehoram, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Matter of the Days of the Kings of Judah?
(24) And Jehoram slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.
We have just learned that the Edomite revolted from Jewish rule but we also learned that Libnah also revolted. It was not an Edomite city. Libnah was one of the cities of the Aaronic Priests.
Joshua 21:13 MKJV
And to the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron and its open lands as a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Libnah and its open lands,
Something has happened to cause the Libnah people to revolt. Obviously, they objected violently to Jehoram’s desecration of Solomon’s temple. For Joram’s blasphemy, Yehovah judged not only his wife Athaliah, but his son Ahaziah, and grandson Jehash, and great grandson Amazaih.
Ahaziah Reigns in Judah
2 Kings 8:25-29 MKJV In the twelfth year of Jehoram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, began to reign.
(26) Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
(27) And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of Jehovah, as the house of Ahab, for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
(28) And he went with Jehoram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth of Gilead. And the Syrians wounded Jehoram.
(29) And King Jehoram went back to be healed in Jezreel from the wounds which the Syrians had given him in Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
Athaliah is usually considered the daughter of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel of Israel.
Athaliah was married to Jehoram of Judah to seal a treaty between the kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and to secure his position Jehoram killed his six brothers.
Jehoram became king of Judah in the fifth year of Jehoram of Israel’s reign (2 Kings 8:16).
Jehoram of Israel was Athaliah’s brother (or possibly nephew). Jehoram of Judah reigned for eight years.
His father Jehoshaphat and grandfather Asa were devout kings who worshiped Yahweh and walked in his ways.
However, Jehoram chose not to follow their example but rejected Yahweh and married Athaliah, the daughter of Ahab in the line of Omri.
Jehoram’s rule of Judah was shaky. Edom revolted, and he was forced to acknowledge their independence.
A raid by Philistines, Arabs and Ethiopians looted the king’s house, and carried off all of his family except for their youngest son, Ahaziah.
After Jehoram’s death, Ahaziah became king of Judah, and Athaliah was queen mother. Ahaziah reigned for one year from the age of 22 (2 Kings 8:26) and was killed during a state visit to Israel along with Jehoram of Israel.
Jehu assassinated them both in Yahweh’s name and became king of Israel. He had Athaliah’s entire extended family in Samaria put to death, ending the Omri dynasty in Israel.
Upon hearing the news of Ahaziah’s death, Athaliah seized the throne of Judah and ordered the execution of all possible claimants to the throne, including the remnant of her Omri dynasty.
However, Jehosheba, Ahaziah’s sister, managed to rescue from the purge one of Athaliah’s grandsons with Jehoram of Judah, named Jehoash, who was only one year old. Jehoash was raised in secret by Jehosheba’s husband, a priest named Jehoiada.
As queen, Athaliah used her power to establish the worship of Baal in Judah. Six years later, Athaliah was surprised when Jehoiada revealed that Jehoash lived and proclaimed him king of Judah. She rushed to stop the rebellion, but was captured and executed.
Daughter or sister of Ahab?

Gustave Doré, The Death of Athaliah
There are several scriptures that, when combined with chronological considerations, have led some scholars to hold that she was Ahab’s sister, not his daughter. The relevant scriptural texts that can be cited to support the brother-sister relationship are the following:
2 Kings 8:26, and its parallel passage 2 Chronicles 22:2, say that Jehoram of Judah married a “daughter” of Omri, Ahab’s father. The Hebrew word “daughter” (bath) can mean daughter, granddaughter, or any female descendant, in the same way that ben can mean son, grandson, or any male descendant. Consequently, some modern versions translate that Athaliah was a “granddaughter” of Omri.
But the books of Kings and Chronicles give far more attention to Ahab than to Omri, and so it is notable that in these verses it is not Athaliah’s relationship to Ahab that is stressed, but her relationship to Omri. This would be reasonable if Omri were her father. The immediately following verses also discuss Ahab, again raising the question of why her relationship to Omri is mentioned, instead of to Ahab.
2 Kings 8:27 says that Jehoram of Judah, Athaliah’s husband, was related by marriage (hatan) to the house of Ahab. The word hatan commonly is used to specify a father-in-law or son-in-law relationship. If Jehoram was Ahab’s son-in-law, the expression that would be expected here would be “son-in-law” (or relative by marriage) to Ahab, not to “the house of Ahab.” If Athaliah was Ahab’s sister, not his daughter, then there is an explanation for the additional phrase “house of.”
The support for Athaliah being Ahab’s daughter comes from two verses, 2 Kings 8:18 and its parallel 2 Chronicles 21:6. These verses say that Jehoram of Judah did wickedly “because he married a daughter of Ahab.” This would seem to settle the question in favour of the daughter relationship, with one precaution: the Syriac version of the 2 Chronicles 21:6 says “sister of Ahab” instead of daughter. This textual support for Athaliah being the sister of Ahab is usually regarded as weak enough to justify translating ‘bath’ in 2 Kings 8:26 and 2 Chronicles 22:2 as “granddaughter,” thus bringing the various passages about Athaliah into harmony: she is presented as Omri’s granddaughter and Ahab’s daughter.
Keep in mind you have two Jehorams here. One the son of Ahab who is wounded and the other the son of Jehosaphat.
Let’s continue to the story so you can see the evil of this time.
Jehu Anointed King of Israel:
2 Kings 9:1-29 MKJV And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets, and said to him, Bind up your loins and take this box of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth in Gilead.
(2) And you shall go there, and you shall see there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. And you shall go in and make him rise up from among his brothers, and take him to an inner room.
(3) And take the box of oil and pour it on his head, and say, So says Jehovah, I have anointed you king over Israel. And you shall open the door, and flee, and shall not wait.
(4) And the young man went, the servant of the prophet, to Ramoth in Gilead.
(5) And he came in, and, behold, the commanders of the army were sitting. And he said, I have an errand to you, commander. And Jehu said, To which of all of us? And he said, To you, commander.
(6) And he arose and went into the house. And he poured the oil on his head and said to him, So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, I have anointed you king over the people of Jehovah, over Israel.
(7) And you shall strike the house of Ahab your master, so that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of Jehovah at the hand of Jezebel.
(8) For the whole house of Ahab shall perish. And I will cut off from Ahab everyone that urinates against the wall, both bound and free.
(9) And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.
(10) And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in a part of Jezreel, and none shall be there to bury her. And he opened the door and fled.
(11) And Jehu went out to the servants of his lord. And one said to him, Well? Why did this mad man come to you? And he said to them, You know the man and what he had to say.
(12) And they said, It is false. Tell us now! And he said, This and this he spoke to me, saying, So says Jehovah, I have anointed you king over Israel.
(13) And they hurried and each man took his garment and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.
(14) And Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi plotted against Jehoram. And Jehoram was keeping watch at Ramoth in Gilead, he and all Israel before Hazael king, of Syria.
(15) And King Jehoram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him when he fought with Hazael the king of Syria. And Jehu said, If it is your minds, then let no escapee leave to go to tell it in Jezreel.
(16) And Jehu rode in the chariot and went to Jezreel. For Jehoram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Jehoram.
(17) And a watchman stood on the tower in Jezreel. And he saw the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Jehoram said, Take a horseman and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
(18) And the rider on horseback went to meet him and said, So says the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What do you have to do with peace? Turn behind me! And the watchman reported, saying, The messenger came to them, but he does not come again.
(19) And he sent a second rider on horseback, who came to them and said, So says the king, Is it peace? And he answered, What do you have to do with peace? Turn behind me!
(20) And the watchman reported, saying, He came up to them, but does not come again. And the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.
(21) And Jehoram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Jehoram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his own chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth of Jezreel.
(22) And it happened when Jehoram saw Jehu, he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
(23) And Jehoram turned his hands and fled and said to Ahaziah, Treachery, Ahaziah!
(24) And Jehu drew a bow and struck Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sank down in his chariot.
(25) And he said to Bidkar his commander, Take him up and throw him in the portion of the field of Naboth of Jezreel. For, remember, you and I rode together after Ahab his father, and Jehovah laid this burden on him.
(26) Surely, yesterday I have seen the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, says Jehovah, and I will repay you in this portion, says Jehovah. And now, take him and throw him into the portion, according to the Word of Jehovah.
(27) And when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw, he fled by the way of the garden-house. And Jehu followed after him and said, Strike him also in the chariot, at the going up to Gur, that is near Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.
(28) And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his tomb with his fathers in the city of David.
(29) And in the eleventh year of Jehoram the son of Ahab, Ahaziah began to reign over Judah.
Jehu Executes Jezebel:
2 Kings 9:30-37 MKJV
And Jehu had come to Jezreel. And Jezebel heard, and had painted her face and adorned her head, and looked out at a window.
(31) And Jehu came to the gate. And she said, Was it peace to Zimri the slayer of his lord?
(32) And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is with me? Who? And two or three eunuchs looked out at him.
(33) And he said, Throw her down! And they threw her down. And some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses. And he trampled her.
(34) And when he had come in, he ate and drank, and said, Go, now see this cursed woman and bury her. For she is a king’s daughter.
(35) And they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands.
(36) And they came again and told him. And he said, This is the Word of Jehovah which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel.
(37) And the dead body of Jezebel shall be as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
These are the Kings of Israel & The Kings of Judah
You will notice that King Jehoram of Israel called Joram in the chart above and Jehoram King of Judah and Ahazaih King of Judah all died in 843 BC of the same year.
Now we must read the next chapter in 2 Kings 10 to learn something else.
Jehu Slaughters Ahab’s Descendants:
2 Kings 10:1-36 MKJV
And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters and sent to Samaria to the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to the supporters of Ahab, saying,
(2) And now as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, and chariots and horses are with you, also a fortified city and armor,
(3) even look for the best and fittest of your master’s sons, and set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.
(4) And they were exceedingly afraid and said, Behold, two kings did not stand before him; how then shall we stand?
(5) And he who was over the house, and he over the city, the elders also, and the guardians, sent to Jehu saying, We are your servants and will do all that you shall say to us; we will not make any king. Do what is good in your eyes.
(6) And he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If you are mine, and will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men, your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by this time tomorrow. And the king’s sons, seventy persons, were with the great men of the city who brought them up.
(7) And it happened when the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and killed them, seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets and sent to him in Jezreel.
(8) And a messenger came and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king’s sons. And he said, Lay them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.
(9) And it happened in the morning, he went out and stood, and said to all the people, You are righteous. Behold, I plotted against my master and killed him. But who killed all these?
(10) Now know that there shall fall to the earth nothing of the Word of Jehovah , which Jehovah spoke concerning the house of Ahab. For Jehovah has done that which He spoke by His servant Elijah.
(11) And Jehu killed all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his familiar friends, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.
(12) And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. He was at the shepherds’ shearing-house in the way,
(13) And Jehu met with the brothers of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are you? And they answered, The brothers of Ahaziah. And we are going down to greet the king’s sons and the queen’s sons.
(14) And he said, Take them alive! And they took them alive and killed them at the pit of the shearing-house, forty-two men. And he left not a man of them.
(15) And he left there and found Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him. And he greeted him and said to him, Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it is, give your hand. And he gave his hand. And he took him up to him into the chariot.
(16) And he said, Come with me and see my zeal for Jehovah. And they made him ride in his chariot.
(17) And he came to Samaria, and killed all that remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had destroyed him, according to the saying of Jehovah which He spoke to Elijah.
(18) And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, Ahab served Baal a little, but Jehu shall serve him much.
(19) And now call to me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants and all his priests. Let no one be lacking. For I have a great sacrifice to Baal. Whoever shall be lacking, he shall not live. But Jehu was acting with cunning, to the end that he might destroy the worshipers of Baal.
(20) And Jehu said, Call a solemn feast for Baal. And they called it.
(21) And Jehu sent through all Israel. And all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left who did not come. And they came into the house of Baal. And the house of Baal was full from one end to another.
(22) And he said to him who was over the robe-room, Bring out robes for all the worshipers of Baal. And he brought them out for them.
(23) And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal. And he said to the servants of Baal, Search and look, that there may not be here with you any of the servants of Jehovah, but only the servants of Baal.
(24) And they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. And Jehu had appointed eighty men outside, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escapes, his life shall be for the life of him.
(25) And it happened when he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, Jehu said to the guard and to the commanders, Go in. Kill them! Do not let any come out! And they struck them with the edge of the sword. And the guard and the commanders threw them out. And they went to the city, to the house of Baal.
(26) And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal and burned them.
(27) And they broke down the image of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal and made it a sewer-house until this day.
(28) And Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
(29) Only, Jehu did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, going after them, the golden calves in Bethel and in Dan.
(30) And Jehovah said to him, Jehu, because you have done well in doing the right in My eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in My heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.
(31) But Jehu did not care to walk in the Law of Jehovah, the God of Israel with all his heart, for he did not turn from the sins of Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin.
(32) In those days Jehovah began to cut Israel short. And Hazael struck them in all the border of Israel,
(33) from Jordan toward the rising of the sun, all the land of Gilead, the men of Gad and of Reuben and of Manasseh, from Aroer, by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.
(34) And the rest of the acts of Jehu and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the Book of the Matter of the Days of the Kings of Israel?
(35) And Jehu slept with his fathers. And they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his place.
(36) And the days that Jehu reigned over Israel and Samaria were twenty-eight years.
Notice what Yehovah says to Jehu about his son until the fourth generation.
2Ki 10:30 MKJV
And Jehovah said to him, Jehu, because you have done well in doing the right in My eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in My heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.
Yehovah is blessing him unto the 4th generation while at the same time he is about to blot out the names of 4 kings or 4 generations in the house of Judah. And all of this is taking place at this same time during the time of Elijah.
Now do not forget who this Athaliah is. She is the daughter of Omri and the wife of Jehoram the mother of Ahaziah. Both of who were killed in 843 BC.
Athaliah Reigns in Judah:
2 Kings 11:1-3 MKJV
And Athaliah was the mother of Ahaziah. And when she saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed of the kingdom. (2) But Jehosheba the daughter of King Jehoram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king’s sons which were killed. And they hid him from Athaliah in the bedroom, him and his nurse, so that he was not killed. (3) And he was hidden with her in the house of Jehovah six years. And Athaliah reigned over the land.
Joash Anointed King in Judah:
2 Kings 11:4-20 MKJV
And in the seventh year Jehoiada sent and brought the rulers over hundreds, with the commanders and the guards, and brought them to him into the house of Jehovah. And he made a covenant with them and took an oath from them in the house of Jehovah, and revealed to them the king’s son.
(5) And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that you shall do. A third part of you who enter in on the sabbath shall be keepers of the watch of the king’s house.
(6) And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur. And a third part at the gate behind the guard. And you shall keep the watch of the house, alternately.
(7) And two parts of you, all who go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of Jehovah around the king.
(8) And you shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. And he who comes inside the ranks, let him be killed. And they shall be with the king as he goes out and as he comes in.
(9) And the rulers of the hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. And each man took his men, going in on the sabbath, with those going out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
(10) And the priest gave King David’s spears and shields, which were in the temple of Jehovah, to the rulers of the hundreds.
(11) And the guard stood, each man with his weapons in his hand, around the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, by the altar and the temple.
(12) And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown and the testimony on him. And they made him king and anointed him, and clapped their hands and said, Let the king live!
(13) And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of Jehovah.
(14) And she looked, and behold, the king stood by a pillar as usually was done, and the rulers and the trumpeters were by the king. And all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets. And Athaliah tore her clothes, and cried, Treason! Treason!
(15) And Jehoiada the priest commanded the rulers of the hundreds, those set over the army, and said to them, Take her out between the ranks, and let the one who follows her kill her with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of Jehovah.
(16) And they laid hands on her, and she went by the way which the horses came into the king’s house. And she was killed there.

(19) And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the commanders, and the guard, and all the people of the land. And they brought the king down from the house of Jehovah and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
(20) And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. And they killed Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.

(5) let the priests take it to themselves, each man from those he knows. And let them repair the breaks in the house, in all places where any break shall be found.
(6) And it happened in the twenty-third year of King Joash, the priests had not repaired the breaks of the house.
(7) Then King Joash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the priests, and said to them, Why are you not repairing the breaks of the house? And now take no silver from those you know, but deliver it for the breaks of the house.
(8) And the priests agreed to take no silver from the people, nor to repair the breaks of the house.
(9) But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid. And he set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of Jehovah. And the priests who kept the door put in it all the silver brought into the house of Jehovah.
(10) And it happened when they saw that much silver was in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up. And they bound and counted the silver that was found in the house of Jehovah.
(11) And they gave the silver which was counted into the hands of those who did the work, those overseeing the house of Jehovah. And they laid it out to the carpenters and builders who worked on the house of Jehovah,
(12) and to masons and cutters of stone, and to buy timber and cut stone to repair the breaks of the house of Jehovah, and for all that went forth for the house, to repair it.
(13) Only, there were no bowls of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, or any vessels of gold or vessels of silver, made for the house of Jehovah from the silver which was brought into the house of Jehovah.
(14) For they gave it to the workmen, and repaired the house of Jehovah with it.
(15) And they did not make an accounting with the men into whose hands they gave the silver to be given to the workmen. For they dealt faithfully.
(16) The trespass silver and sin silver was not brought into the house of Jehovah. It was the priests’.

(4) Only, the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
(5) And it happened when the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain his father the king;
(6) But he did not kill the sons of the servants, according to that which is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, in which Jehovah commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the sons, nor shall the sons be put to death for the fathers, but each shall be put to death for his own sin.
(7) He killed ten thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel until this day.

(9) And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son for a wife. And a beast of the field in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle.
(10) You have indeed stricken Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Rejoice and stay at home, for why should you meddle to your harm, so that you should fall, you and Judah with you?
(11) But Amaziah would not hear. And Jehoash king of Israel went up. And he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, of Judah.
(12) And Judah was beaten before Israel. And every man fled to his tent.
(13) And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and he came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the Corner Gate, four hundred cubits.
(14) And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels which were found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
(15) And the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Israel?
(16) And Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. And Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.
(17) And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
(18) And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Judah?
(19) And they made a plot against him at Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. And they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
(20) And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
(21) And all the people of Judah took Azariah who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.
