Where are we right now within the End Times?
Remember, be calm.
Are you keeping watch? Are you setting aside time to do so?
Since 2005, the Sabbatical & Jubilee Calendar has been proven beyond a doubt. In addition, our current Gregorian Calendar has been accurately aligned to the Sabbatical & Jubilee Calendar by Joseph F. Dumond1Joseph F. Dumond has extensive research articles at sightedmoon.com. When I first heard about this, I was skeptical. And just as the Word says:
1 Thessalonians 5:21 MKJV
Prove all things, hold fast to the good.
So, being skeptical, I took 9 months to disprove the Sabbatical & Jubilee Calendar. I even spreadsheeted it myself in Excel. But I ended up proving it conclusively for myself! I randomly selected and researched 3 proofs which I found to be accurate and therefore accept the 89 proofs provided. And I might add that all who have been called to disprove it, have come to the same conclusion – and that includes respected Christians, Messianic Jews, Rabbis. In regard to Joseph F. Dumond’s research and writings, he was nominated for a Nobel Prize in Literature by Professor WA Liebenberg, Hebrew Roots teaching Institute, Calvary University.
It became clear to me that I needed to understand Yehovah’s counting system in ‘sevens’.
It starts with the Sabbath.
Sabbath in the Old Testament
The Hebrew word, Shabbat (Sabbath in English), is a gift of rest, first mentioned in the story of creation. How Shabbat is celebrated today certainly looks a lot different than the first sabbath! After God created the world in six days:
Genesis 2:3 MKJV
And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He had rested2H7673 שָׁבַת shâbath (shaw-bath’) A primitive root; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): – (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep (sabbath), suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away. from all His work which God created to make.
Did you catch that word rested? This word in the Hebrew is the first occurrence of the word Shabbat in the Scriptures. This word simply means to cease from doing, to desist from labour or to rest. At the dawn of creation, God instituted a rhythm of rest in the order of time. He knew that mankind would need the Sabbath for their health and well-being.
God valued this concept of rest so much that He even included it in the Ten Commandments:
Exodus 20:8 MKJV
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Sabbath in the New Testament
There are Christians who would say that under the New Covenant there is no longer any requirement to keep the Sabbath. “We are no longer under law but under grace,” many would say.
But let’s look at this in a different way. Instead of seeing the Sabbath as a “requirement”, consider it… a reward.
What if it was not a legal restriction, but an element of God’s grace?
Jesus (Yeshua) Himself observed the Sabbath. However, He was not shy to correct those who had turned Shabbat into a complicated minefield of rules and regulations:
Luke 4:16 MKJV
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up to read.Mark 2:23-28 MKJV
And it happened that He went through the grainfields on the sabbath day. And as they walked His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain.
(24) And the Pharisees said to Him, Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the sabbath day?
(25) And He said to them, Have you never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry, he, and those with him?
(26) How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest and ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat, except for the priests, and also gave to those with him?
(27) And He said to them, The sabbath came into being for man’s sake, and not man for the sabbath’s sake.
(28) Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the sabbath.
He was determined to refocus it once again on the true source of rest and celebration: GOD HIMSELF!
Jesus (Yeshua) invited all men to come to Him to find rest:
Matthew 11:28-30 MKJV
Come to Me all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
(29) Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls.
(30) For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
Shabbat is a God-given weekly reminder that we need rest, and that our rest is found in Him. Even more profoundly, it is a compelling reminder that our entire lives revolve around Him! To know more, explore the series: Understanding The Sabbath.
The Sabbath introduces us to Yehovah’s counting system of ‘Sevens’ which helps us understand His Sabbatical/Jubilee Calendar. Yet, that is just the beginning…
