Have you ever been a little rash and blurted out something that only seconds later realise that it was an horrendous mistake. Apart from wanting to disappear in a crack in the ground, you wishfully think how to retrieve those spoken words.
But you can’t.
He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.
Proverbs 13:3
Hopefully you will learn from those disastrous moments, and will be just a fraction hesitant, the next time you speak.
The trick is to pass your thoughts through the filter of:
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Ephesians 4:29
Today. Today is a good place to start. Consider carefully your words that you choose to speak, today. Will you just read this, or will you genuinely try it today?
And if you see the benefit, try it for just a few days… before you know, it will be a habit.
