A Deeper Retrospective on the Sabbatical & Jubilee Calendar

With understanding of the Sabbaths, comes understanding of prophecy.

As you may have noticed, time is calculated in sevens. So, let’s compare days to years in terms of sevens.

Note: the Jubilee year occurs the first year of the next cycle.

From the beginning there have been 7 days in a week, with the Sabbath on day 7 (Genesis 1:1-2:3).

The commandment tells us to keep this 7th day holy (Exodus 20:8-11, Deuteronomy 5:12-15). During the year, 7 Sabbaths, or 49 days, are counted between the Feasts of Firstfruits and Pentecost (Leviticus 23:15).

Not only is it important to keep the weekly Sabbath and the annual Sabbath feast days that occur throughout the year, but it is also very important to keep the Sabbatical years described in Leviticus 25 which explains that every 7th year is a Sabbatical year and that there are 49 years, or 7 weeks of years, between each Jubilee year.

Millennia

Next, consider the perspective of our Creator, who thinks in terms of millennia (thousands of years!).

Psalms 90:4 MKJV
For a thousand years in Your sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:8 NIV
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

How long is one millennium (one “millennial day”)?
One Millennial Day

Each square represents seven Sabbatical years which compose what is known as a Jubilee cycle, due to the Jubilee year occurring the year following the 49th year.

This overall period of time is one “millennial day” from a scriptural point of view.

Our Heavenly Father has a plan for mankind.

Mankind has six millennial days to work and is given the Sabbath to rest.

Since creation, mankind has been labouring for nearly six millennia in a constant struggle against sin.

Revelation 20:2 describes a 7th “millennial day” where that serpent who deceived mankind in the garden (Genesis 3) is locked away.

That 7th millennium will be a Sabbath of rest.

The first six millennia of the 7 below, represent the six millennial days that mankind has laboured on this earth.

This 7th millennial day is the Sabbath millennium7 Millennial Days

Do you want to enter into this time of peace and rest? I do.

Hebrews 4:3 NIV
Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declared on oath in my anger, “They shall never enter my rest.'” And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world.

Labels on the 7 Millennial Days spoken of in prophecy

The table below places some labels on the 7 millennial days spoken of in prophecy:

The first six millennia contain 120 cycles of 49 years. The last cycle of years is often called the “End Times”. And the 7th millennial day is the Sabbath millennium:

120 Jubilee Cycles

In the book of Genesis, the corruption of the earth became so bad that our Creator flooded the Earth. Before this flood, He stated that He would only strive with man for 120 cycles of time:

Genesis 6:3 MKJV
And Jehovah said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, in his erring; he is flesh. Yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

120 = 50 + 70 Jubilee Cycles of Time

The prophet Daniel was reminded of this when he was told that 70 cycles of time would follow from the time since Moses was commanded at the burning bush (which occurred at the end of the first 50 cycles of time).

Daniel 9:24-26 MKJV
Seventy weeks are decreed as to your people and as to your holy city, to finish the transgression and to make an end of sins, and to make atonement for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.  (25)  Know therefore and understand, that from the going out of the command to restore and to build Jerusalem, to Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. The street shall be built again, and the wall, even in times of affliction.  (26)  And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself. And the people of the ruler who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. And the end of it shall be with the flood, and ruins are determined, until the end shall be war.

After these 120 Jubilee Cycles are complete, sin will come to an end, reconciliation will be made for iniquity (lawlessness/torahlessness), and everlasting righteousness will be brought in.

The 7th millennial day will be a time of true peace on Earth.
