Presently it is flu season…and yep, I got the flu. Promptly shared it with my wife.
Both my kids are sick too.
As I recounted our demise to a friend he chuckled and said that we are definitely ‘a sharing family’. I had to think about that for a minute. Were we really a sharing family?
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
1 Timothy 6:18
Well, just two nights ago in the middle of the coldest winter for a long time, the wind outside was blowing a gale. Rain was driving in horizontal sheets and I was warm between mine.
I was awakened by thumping against the bedroom wall and window. It sounded like someone just threw a two litre empty plastic coke bottle against the house. I got up to investigate the mystery.
As I peered out my bedroom window I could see that the 240Litre recycling bin had been blown over and all the paper, plastic bottles, cardboard, etc had spewed out and was being picked up and driven into my front garden and against the house. Bah! Being sick, and the damage done, I didn’t want to go out into the driving rain and resigned myself to a cleanup in the light of day.
The next morning, dressed and ready, I girded up my strength to toil at the task ahead and do a good deed.
There was my bin still on its side with a quarter of its contents inside as I had observed the night before. But to my surprise, there was no liter in my garden anywhere! I looked down the street, on both sides, and it was as clean as a whistle. I have no idea where it ended up.
My friend just chuckled and reiterated his statement… “Yep, you are a sharing family”.
I don’t know… does this really qualify?
