Have you ever noticed when you drop in on family how accommodating they are? I know we expect it, but have you ever considered just how special it is?
You arrive and interrupt routines, invade their environment, rearrange plans and yet, somehow, grace prevails.
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
1 Peter 4:9
Why is it easier with family? Personally, I don’t think it is… we do it without grumbling because they are family. We are prepared to do it and work on it diligently. The bond of love, which overlooks a multitude of sins, prevails.
The key is in the two words, prepared and love.
So could we do the same for strangers?
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
Hebrews 13:2
Being prepared is a mindset and love is from the heart. When our mind and heart are aligned anything is possible. And what a better world we would live in.
Being trusted and trusting others is the topping on the cake of hospitality… who could you offer a slice to?
