What is the Difference Between The Wheat and The Tares?

In the parable of the wheat and the tares (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43 MKJV), Jesus (Yehshua) uses a real agricultural reality to illustrate a profound spiritual truth.

Wheat (good seed sown by the Son of Man) produces full, heavy grains that bow the stalk under their weight—valuable, harvestable seed that becomes bread and sustains life.

Tares (darnel, a poisonous weed sown by the enemy) look almost identical to wheat while growing, but when mature, their heads remain upright and their “seeds” are small, black, lightweight, and worthless for food (often toxic if ground into flour).

He put out another parable to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. (25) But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel among the wheat and went his way. (26) But when the blade had sprung up and had produced fruit, then the darnel also appeared. (27) So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Then where have the darnel come from? (28) He said to them, An enemy has done this. The servants said to him, Then do you want us to go and gather them up? (29) But he said, No, lest while you gather up the darnel you also root up the wheat with them. (30) Let both grow together until the harvest. And in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather together the darnel and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my granary.

(39) The enemy who sowed them is the Devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. (40) Therefore as the darnel are gathered and burned in the fire, so it shall be in the end of this world. (41) The Son of Man shall send out His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who do iniquity, (42) and shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (43) Then the righteous shall shine out like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

The Wheat

The wheat represents the true children of the kingdom—those who, by abiding in Yehshua, bear lasting spiritual fruit. Their lives produce “full grains”—righteous works, obedience to Torah, love, and souls won for the kingdom that endure into eternity.

John 15:1-14 MKJV
I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. (2) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away. And every one that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bring forth more fruit. (3) Now you are clean through the Word which I have spoken to you. (4) Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. (5) I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (6) If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered. And they gather and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. (7) If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you. (8) In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you shall be My disciples. (9) As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you; continue in My love. (10) If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. (11) I have spoken these things to you so that My joy might remain in you and your joy might be full. (12) This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. (13) No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (14) You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

The Tares

The Tares, sown by the devil, may mimic wheat outwardly (attending services, speaking religious words, even performing signs), but they produce no harvestable fruit. Their “seed” is empty, poisonous, and worthless—lives that bear no lasting righteousness, only deception and destruction. At the harvest (end of the age), the difference becomes undeniable: wheat is gathered into the barn (eternal life), tares are bound and burned (judgment).

This agricultural detail underscores Yehshua’s warning. Your fruitfulness or the lack thereof reveals your identity.

Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (16) You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? (17) Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruits, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (19) Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (20) Therefore by their fruits you shall know them. (21) Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. (22) Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works? (23) And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness ¹!

The Greek word for “lawlessness” here is anomia—literally “without law” or “Torah-lessness.” These people performed impressive works and called Him “Lord,” but they lived in rebellion against Yehovah’s commandments. Yehshua did not “know” them because they did not truly know Him—they never entered the intimate relationship that comes through obedience to the Father’s will, which is keeping His Torah.
Yehshua makes this explicit in the same chapter: “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven”. Doing the Father’s will is not optional; it is signs and wonders—it is living according to His instructions.

So how do we get to know Yehovah and Yehshua?

The Bible repeatedly ties “knowing” God to obedience, love expressed through the commandments, and walking in His ways:

And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments. (4) He who says, I have known Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (5) But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of God is perfected. By this we know that we are in Him. (6) He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk even as He walked.

He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him.

By this we know that we love the children of God, whenever we love God and keep His commandments. (3) For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.

Hosea 6:6 MKJV
For I desired mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Those who called Him Lord refused to do what He commanded—keeping the Father’s Torah out of love. Knowledge of God is not intellectual or emotional alone; it is an intimate relationship, proven by walking in His commandments. Those who live in lawlessness, no matter their miracles or words, remain strangers to Him.
The wheat full of fruit, bows humbly under the weight of its grain; the tares stand proud but empty.

We are commanded to produce fruit worthy of repentance—visible evidence of a changed life through obedience, good works, and righteousness. This “fruit” is not optional but is the proof of genuine faith and repentance.

But to those first in Damascus, and Jerusalem, and to all the country of Judea, and to the nations, I made known the command to repent and to turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance

What are the fruits we are to be producing? As you read this, take note of the fruits of the flesh which we are not to produce.

Galatians 5:16-26 MKJV
I say, then, Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. (17) For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. And these are contrary to one another; lest whatever you may will, these things you do. (18) But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. (19) Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness, (20) idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies, (21) envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (22) But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, (23) meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (24) But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. (25) If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (26) Let us not become glory-seeking, provoking one another, envying one another.

You now have a clear list of the works of the flesh. We must now include James’s infamous words on faith and works.

My brothers, what profit is it if a man says he has faith and does not have works? Can faith save him? (15) If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, (16) and if one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, but you do not give them those things which are needful to the body, what good is it? (17) Even so, if it does not have works, faith is dead, being by itself. (18) But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith from my works. (19) You believe that there is one God, you do well; even the demons believe and tremble. (20) But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (21) Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? (22) Do you see how faith worked with his works, and from the works faith was made complete? (23) And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God.” (24) You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. (25) And in the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she had received the messengers and had sent them out another way? (26) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

These verses show that fruit worthy of repentance is commanded—obedience, righteousness, and good works flowing from true faith. Without it, one risks being cut off.

In these last days, let us examine our lives—are we producing the full, life-giving grain of the kingdom, or standing upright with nothing to offer at the harvest?

Wheat bears good fruit; Tares look similar but are false and bear nothing worth harvesting. This is very plain and simple. It is the obedience to Yehovah vs. rebellion.

What does this look like today, in practical terms?

Does your study life bring you to know Yehovah, or does it lead you away from knowing anything about Him? Do the things you study lead you to do works demonstrating your faith, or are they works not worthy of being followed by others?

Paul warned us of these days we are in now.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 MKJV
Therefore I solemnly witness before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead according to His appearance and His kingdom, (2) preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine. (3) For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear. (4) And they will turn away their ears from the truth and will be turned to myths. (5) But you watch in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry.

Paul also wrote the following condemning words and each of us must consider them:

Now we beseech you, my brothers, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, (2) that you should not be soon shaken in mind or troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word or letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ is at hand. (3) Let not anyone deceive you by any means. For that Day shall not come unless there first comes a falling away, and the man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition, (4) who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth, that he is God. (5) Do you not remember that I told you these things when I was still with you? (6) And now you know what holds back, for him to be revealed in his own time. (7) For the mystery of lawlessness is already working, only he is now holding back until it comes out of the midst. (8) And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the breath of His mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming, (9) whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, (10) and with all deceit of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, so that they might be saved. (11) And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, (12) so that all those who do not believe the truth, but delight in unrighteousness, might be condemned.

The key scriptures to refer to are: 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 and 2 Tim 4:3-4 (below), which directly link a lack of love for the truth to a desire to seek out deception and myths. You cannot fall away from the truth unless you are first following Torah.

This message is to the elect.

Those same elect that, if possible, Satan would be able to deceive.

For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders; so much so that, if it were possible, they would deceive even the elect.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

It is the elect, who know Torah, that will sadly follow false prophets and go after them, seeking their myths and deceptive teachings.

Paul warns about the end times when the “man of sin” is revealed, which is our time right now.

Those who reject the truth (the gospel and Yehovah’s commandments) and do not develop a love for the truth of the Torah, never embrace it with their whole heart. Because of this, Yehovah allows a “strong delusion” to come upon them, leading them to believe lies, and consequently, they face condemnation. The phrase emphasizes that salvation requires not just hearing the truth, but loving and living it. A related verse reinforcing this is Hosea 4:6.

Watch Conspiracy Theories

Conspiracy theories, while often captivating, divert believers from the heart of Scripture: knowing Yehovah through obedience to His commandments as we just showed you in:

Think about this. All of these conspiracies are made up and/or flat-out lies. Are you serving Yehovah or Satan by spreading lies? Have some of these conspiracy theories become your god? This is then idolatry.

We all know many “Brethren” who are experts in each and every one of them, spending endless hours reading or watching videos to learn more about them, chasing these deceptions—researching, debating, and spreading them—which, in the end, robs them of the time they could have spent studying Torah. They are spreading and fostering fear over faith and division over unity.

Below, I examine each theory chronologically by origin so you can see when this myth or lie began. I will then assess whether it’s factual or a lie, and explain how it hinders understanding of Yehovah by prioritising speculation over His revealed will. The will of Yehovah is that we keep the Commandments.

1) The Serpent Seed Doctrine (Cain from Satan)

Originated in 2nd-century Gnostic texts like the Gospel of Philip (c. 150-200 AD, Nag Hammadi manuscripts), claims Cain was the offspring of Eve and Satan, creating a satanic bloodline.

This is a lie, because it is clearly stated in:

Genesis 4:1 MKJV
And Adam knew Eve his wife. And she conceived and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from Jehovah.

Thus implying Adam’s paternity with no ancient Hebrew manuscript supporting a satanic union.

The Danger:

It distracts you from knowing Yehovah by obsessing over genetic “purity” and bloodlines, leading people to judge others racially instead of pursuing obedience to the commandments like loving one’s neighbour:

2) The claim that Paul was a False Apostle

It began in the 2nd-century Ebionite writings like the Clementine Homilies (c. 200 AD, Syriac/Greek manuscripts), asserting that Paul contradicted Torah. This is false, as 2 Peter 3:15-16 affirms:

The Danger:

It leads away from knowing Yehovah by sowing distrust in the New Testament, causing people to reject Paul’s Torah-upholding teachings.

Acts 21:24 MKJV
taking them, be purified with them, and be at expense for them, so that they may shave their heads. And all may know that what they have been told about you is nothing, but you yourself also walk orderly and keep the Law.

Many brethren claim Paul was a false prophet and reject him today. They then use this to justify not believing in the New Testament at all, which then leads to denying Yehshua was the Messiah. This teaching often focuses on division rather than unity in commandments. It is often exploited by anti-missionaries to confront Christians.

3) Replacement Theology

It too is false, and it remains false today, because Yehovah has explicitly declared that He has not forgotten Israel nor revoked His covenant with them.
Scripture is unambiguous. Yehovah ties Israel’s continued existence to the fixed order of creation itself:

So says Jehovah, who gives the sun for a light by day and the laws of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who divides the sea when its waves roar; Jehovah of Hosts is His name; (36) if those ordinances depart from Me, says Jehovah, the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before Me forever.

He further declares,

So says Jehovah, If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be searched out, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says Jehovah.

Likewise, when Zion fears abandonment, Yehovah responds,

Can a woman forget her suckling child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you. (16) Behold, I have carved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are forever before Me.

Paul confirms this continuity in the New Testament:

I say then, Did not God put away His people? Let it not be said! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. (2) God did not thrust out His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture said in Elijah, how he pleaded with God against Israel, saying,

Historically, the denial of Replacement Theology arose in response to early supersessionist ideas, such as those found in Justin Martyr’s, Dialogue with Trypho (c. 160 AD), which claimed that the church had replaced Israel.

That claim was false then and remains false now.

Yet in modern times, the same replacement error has reappeared in different forms. While the church once claimed to replace Israel and still does, the Black Hebrew Israelite movements now attempt to replace the Jews by asserting exclusive ethnic identity as “the true Israel,” denying the covenantal continuity of the Jewish people altogether. Though framed differently, this is still replacement theology—substituting one group for another rather than honouring Yehovah’s declared faithfulness to the descendants of Israel.

The Danger:

Both errors ultimately distract from the heart of the covenant. Yehovah never defined Israel merely by claims of identity, but by covenant obedience. Scripture does not ask Israel—or those grafted in—to argue lineage, but to walk faithfully:

When identity debates replace obedience, theology becomes a distraction rather than a call to covenant faithfulness. Anyone and everyone can and will be grafted into Israel. They are not grafted into any one group or denomination.

The primary passage describing Gentiles being “grafted into” Israel is Romans 11, where Paul uses the olive tree metaphor to explain Yehovah’s plan for both Jews and Gentiles:

(13) But now in Christ Jesus you who were once afar off are made near by the blood of Christ. (14) For He is our peace, He making us both one, and He has broken down the middle wall of partition between us, (15) having abolished in His flesh the enmity (the Law of commandments contained in ordinances) so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, making peace between them; (16) and so that He might reconcile both to God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity in Himself. (17) And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off, and to those who were near. (18) For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is no male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (29) And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

Romans 9:6-8 MKJV
Not however that the Word of God has failed, for not all those of Israel are Israel; (7) nor because they are the seed of Abraham are they all children. But, “In Isaac shall your Seed be called.” (8) That is, not the children of the flesh are children of God; but the children of the promise are counted for a seed.

These passages above show that through faith in Yehshua, Gentiles are grafted into the commonwealth of Israel, becoming fellow heirs of the promises without replacing natural Israel.

The focus is spiritual inclusion, not ethnic replacement.

4) History of Blood Libel Myths

Blood libel—the false accusation that Jews murder non-Jews (especially children) to use their blood in religious rituals, particularly for baking Passover matzah—originated in medieval Europe as an antisemitic trope blending Christian theological hostility with folk superstitions.

It has no basis in Jewish law or practice. Torah explicitly forbids consuming blood.

And any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that are staying among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that soul who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. (12) Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that is staying among you eat blood. (13) And any man of the sons of Israel, or of the strangers that are staying among you, who hunts game, beast or fowl, that may be eaten, he shall even pour out its blood and cover it with dust. (14) For it is the life of all flesh. Its blood is for the life of it. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any flesh. For the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.

Key Milestones

1144 CE – Norwich, England: The first recorded blood libel case involved William of Norwich, a 12-year-old boy found dead. Local monks and chronicler Thomas of Monmouth claimed Jews crucified him in mockery of Jesus (in The Life and Miracles of St. William of Norwich, c. 1173). No evidence existed; the accusation spread despite papal condemnation.
12th-13th Centuries – Spread Across Europe: Cases multiplied in England (Lincoln 1255), France (Blois 1171, where 31 Jews were burned), and Germany. Pope Innocent IV condemned it in 1247, calling it baseless and forbidding forced conversions/blood accusations.
15th Century – Trent, Italy: Simon of Trent case (1475) alleged Jews killed a Christian boy for blood; 15 Jews executed. Pope Sixtus IV investigated and found no evidence, but local cult persisted.

Blood libel is completely false.

It is a fabricated myth used to justify pogroms², expulsions, and violence.

Debunked repeatedly by investigations (no evidence ever found) and Jewish law’s strict blood prohibition.

The Danger:

This type of language is used to justify their hatred of the Jews.

5) Illuminati Conspiracy: Origins and Distraction from Knowing Yehovah

There are no scriptures here telling us to rebel against those authorities Yehovah has placed over us– even in exile (Babylon), Judah was to seek the welfare of the land—a model for us as ambassadors today.

These verses show that obedience to civil laws (when not in conflict with Torah, as in Acts 5:29: “We ought to obey God rather than men”) glorifies Yehovah, silences critics, and maintains our witness as Kingdom ambassadors. Chasing conspiracies distracts from this calling.

It originated in ancient apocryphal texts like the Book of Enoch (c. 300–100 BC).

Still, the modern version was revived and expanded by authors like Zecharia Sitchin in The 12th Planet (1976), blending biblical accounts with ancient astronaut theories to argue ongoing extraterrestrial or demonic interference.

The Lizard People (or Reptilian Overlords) conspiracy theory claims that shape-shifting reptilian humanoids from another dimension or Draco constellation secretly control world governments, elites, and events as a hidden ruling class, often tied to ancient Sumerian “Anunnaki” or biblical “serpent seed.” Proponents allege figures like royals, politicians, and celebrities (e.g., Queen Elizabeth, Biden) are reptilians revealed by “glitches” in videos or eyes.

It originated in 1999 with British author David Icke’s book, The Biggest Secret (first edition), building on his earlier works like The Robots’ Rebellion (1994) and blending sci-fi, Gnosticism, and antisemitic tropes (e.g., echoing Protocols of Zion “hidden controllers”).

This theory is completely false.

The results are that no one trusts any Doctors or any authorities today. Trust is completely gone. And each of you who have spread these lies are a part of the problem.

Those claiming this is a plandemic completely missed the fact that it was a curse from Yehovah, as foretold in Leviticus 26. Those spreading the lie also falsely credited Bill Gates or George Soros rather than Yehovah. For this sin, you will have to explain to Yehovah why you did that.

24) The Global Warming Hoax

The Global Warming Hoax conspiracy theory asserts that human-caused climate change is a fabricated scam by elites, governments, or the UN to impose control through taxes, regulations, or depopulation agendas like Agenda 21, denying any real temperature rise or environmental crisis.

It originated in the late 1980s/early 1990s with climate sceptics like S. Fred Singer, who in his 1991 book, Global Climate Change (first edition, published by Paragon House) questioned anthropogenic warming, arguing it was exaggerated for political gain—a view amplified in the 1990s by think tanks like the Heartland Institute and later online by figures like Alex Jones. And here once again is Alex Jones promoting another false conspiratorial lie.

These lies are false.

Overwhelming scientific consensus from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) First Assessment Report (AR1, 1990 original edition) and subsequent reports (AR6, 2021) confirm global temperatures have risen ~1.1°C since pre-industrial levels, with the last decade (2015-2025) seeing 10 of the hottest years on record, including 2025 as the hottest ever (NASA/NOAA data showing +1.02°C anomaly).

The time and effort wasted on these never-ending rabbit trails that lead people astray from intimate knowledge of Him through obedience. None of these conspiracies helps us know Yehovah better—they breed fear, division, and distraction from His Torah.
